Entry for #David-Tennant-Love's 'Emotional David' contest.
When I think of David's mad acting skillz, it's always the subtleties that impress me the most. This guy has got LAYERS of emotion going on. LAYERS.
In this moment I chose (from Waters of Mars) I can spot at least five different emotions in his expression and I have no idea how the hell he does it.
He never ceases to amaze me. Guh.
Done in pencil on standard recycled white sketchbook paper, whites made grey in Photoshop, then added white highlights in Corel Painter. About two to three hours of work. (Tutorial here: [link]).

Oh, and the title is a play on 'And He Knew He Was Right' (a terrible book, but a fun BBC series if you like seeing DT be a sissy) because you can see the fear in the Doctor's eyes that he might be wrong. LAYERS.
This man needs an Oscar...

Excellent portrait. Love the style! Really like your musings on the actor, too, and I have to agree. He is very good. Makes me want to see some of his other roles, too.

unhappy David :nuu: But you're absolutely right, he has so much going in in his expressions, that's why I don't care for the 11th Doctor too much, he doesn't have the depth of emotion that David had.
