A study I did yesterday of Mark Bonnar for... reasons. Secret reasons. You'll find out later. Promise.

I was quite tempted to call this one "It's Adam's Birthday" as that was all Jimmy said for that entire two-parter, but then I thought of a pun. Puns always win.

Anyway, this man must to do more television. I have no access to the performances of the Royal Shakespeare Company.

All done in pencil, ranging from 2B-6B, in my ecojot sketchbook. The smaller portraits are all from the Doctor Who episode 'The Almost People' and are each about 8cm tall. The big one is about 11cm tall and from a cap I took while watching Paradox. Paradox is, actually, not that terrible after you watch something as bad as Miracle Day.

Anyway, stay tuned for those reasons. But comment please! Or it won't be any time soon.

Didn't he also say something about missing his kid's birthday doing paperwork?

For some reason in my brain he keeps looking like the Master with the facial hair.

With his features and the lighter hair plus darker scruff (e.g. the largest of these), Bonnar looks like a mix of David Tennant and "End of Time" John Simm.

a) This is REALLY good
b) The shading is great especially on the hair.
c) Question, Where did you learn how to do this? I've been trying life drawing for a few months and it is really hard. Any tips?

a) Thank you!
b) Thank you!
c) You're on the right track if you're going to life drawing sessions, drawing people on the bus etc. It's just practice practice practice in all honesty. You'll want to give up, there'll be times when you think all hope is lost, but keep it up in one way or another and you're going to be just fine. And DON'T LISTEN TO CHRISTOPHER HART or ANY step-by-step book. They will only hold you back. And don't force a style. You can draw from someone's style, copy a few of their drawings to see what they're doing and how you can use some of their techniques, but NEVER try to BE them. It won't work. And the style of you will always be more interesting. No one does you like you. Go and find you.
Oh, and, yes, you will ALWAYS think that someone else is better than you. There's nothing you can do about that. lol

Wow thanks so much for that even though I didn't ask the question.... I am trying so hard to draw again and I feel all hope is lost and now I want to grab my pencil and drawing paper and start again!
