First Time Out by Girl-on-the-Moon First Time Out by Girl-on-the-Moon
I'd like to imagine that the Doctor completely failed his practical TARDIS exam because he got distracted by the universe's beauty.
Aw.

So, woot! Classic series fan art! Have I ever done that before? D:
And shut up, my young!Hartnell isn't that great, but I've never drawn him before. (An can I just say, quite handsome gentleman when he was younger.)

Download for a much bigger size.
Much thanks to these brush sets:

I came across this lovely picture AGES ago, and I've spent about a year trying to find it again(and now I've seen it's your picture, I mentally slapped myself for not finding it sooner). I love the fact you've drawn the TARDIS as its origin appearence, without the Police Box disguise. Very nice, very nice. :)

You know, I really like what you did with the TARDIS. I love how it looks like a sideways lunchbox. And the Doctor's expression is so cute.

Love the 'simple'-ness of this pic. (One time lord + galaxy + wonder = who knows...). Nicely done on the colours too :)

Even though the Doctor was 90 years old (Just a Kid) when he first went to the Medusa Cascade, and like in this scene, how old biologically would he you think? I'm guessing 18 or so.

wait, is the Tardis the monolith? That explains so much of 2001 a Space Odyssey!

Is this like the Medusa Cascade? When the Doctor said that at 90 years old, he was just a Kid, I wonder if 90 is like 19 or something to a Time Lord.

Which was at least 2 decades before I was born. Okay, fair enough. If they look like that then they look like that. I'm not gonna argue. Besides, there's a pic of one in my little TARDIS Handbook which I just got.

I don't have the chutzpah to write a critique yet, but dayum this is beautiful :P I love the galaxy bits - and the fact the TARDIS doesn't seem to be working properly (no trancendental space) and wee!Hartnell and the fact I do believe the Doctor would have gotten lost in the beauty. :P

Lovely!

Btw, I was looking for younger pictures of Hartnell recently, and stumbled across this:

It's Jon Pertwee and William Hartnell together in a scene from "Will Any Gentlemen...?"

Brilliant, amazing work.

Brilliant to see the 'The War Games' era TARDIS.

You've got the Doctor's 'essence' in there, that sense of wonder looking out, even the casual way he's sitting/leaning.

This is gorgeous, Lydia! Fantastic work of thsoe brushes, there.

And very in-character for the Doctor too, I think. He certainly seems like the type to stare out in wonder and completely forget he was supposed to be finishing an exam
