One of my absolute favourite moments in Doctor Who history. Thank you Steven Moffat. And Tennant, of course.

Comments on the ART, if you comment, please. For god's sake...

Drawn traditionally (20 minutes). Nothing done to it on the computer, at all. A bit unusual for me.

A sort of coloured version over here:

I like how you did realistic shading on some areas, like his face, and cross-hatching on others, such as under his chin.

I love it that River tells him that he can open the TARDIS doors with a snap of his fingers and he says it's not possible, but then he does it! :D This is awesome! :)

No link, since I capped it from my Doctor Who Series 4 DVD box set. This particular shot is from the end of Forest of the Dead, when the Doctor opens the TARDIS. It's not easy to miss.

20 minutes. o.o You scare me. Kay I'm going to go find a picture right now and try to draw it reasonably well in 20 minutes. I'll tell you how badly I failed later.

I've been taking drawing classes and am still practicing to get better, but I like to make a friendly feedback about this sketch out of my experience in detailed portrait sketches from b+w photos.

I find his cheek on the right side to be irksome from how it's rendered. I can see you did your best with contrast in shadows, but what I can see from his cheek is that it's not "molded" smoothly. If I were to render this as a sculpture, the surface will appear to have uneven bumps left caused by denting the clay with your fingers.

I looked at the screenshot of the scene from that Doctor Who episode, so I think the problem is the amount of contrast you need to execute this drawing with a 3D effect. Look back at the image you drew this from and you can see there's different amounts of light and shadow. The hand is receiving about 100% of the light, while highlights on his face is slightly dimmer. Also, get rid of the white areas on his right cheek since they're the cause of the "lumpy surface" and adjust the shadows for a smooth depiction of the surface.

So overall, this needs a little more judgement on the amount of shadows and light on different. Other than that, his proportions is cool like in the photo.

You have been able to portray the intensity of the expression in the artwork really well. The use of soft tones contrasted with the stark dark lines compliment the atmosphere of the work, well done!

Definitely prefer this to the color version. It's softer in expressing the muscles in the face than the colored version.

The end of a two part episode, "Silence in the Library" and "Forests of the Dead", written by Steven Moffat. This is one of the last shots from Forest of the Dead.

Silence in the library was the first Doctor Who episode I saw all the way through, I recommend it/them. :)

I must say I like this one better. I think the colouring makes the right side of his face look a bit warped. The simplicity of this sketch is charming. I like how the shading fades away and the fingers and the coat are just left white and sketchy. :D

I prefer the sketch version vs the coloured-ish version, mainly because the shadows on his face are less harsh. The other version makes him kind of seem old, this just seems like shading. Plus I have a soft spot in my heart for sketches and pencil drawings.

Beautiful work, his eyes don't seem to be quite looking the same way, but I don't actually know whether that's something DT has himself, since I don't have access to your ref screen cap.
