The Hero of (Down)time by Girl-on-the-Moon The Hero of (Down)time by Girl-on-the-Moon
I've never done Zelda fan art before! HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE.
Had so much fun doing this. Not my last time drawing Link I promise you. :D

EDIT: Added a background!

Get it as a print, tote bag, pillow and more in my Society6 shop.

Vision & Originality:

This feels so right. 'Hey, listen! - take a break....' It's nice to see the Hero taking a break, since he seems to go all out all the time. It's great to note the damage to his uniform, and his body. All that rolling around, all the dodging, getting whacked - it's both visionary and original to see all that taken into account.

The camp fire provides a warm glow and helps set the scene of Link actually taking stock between saving Zelda or slaying Ganon.

Technique:

Obviously a practiced artist: clean lines, masterful use of colour, and a nicely blended palette. The only thing I would really comment on is the kind 'empty area' on the right and behind Link. I think that perhaps a use of stars, or some kind of nebula would help buff the image and provide a sense of mysticism that belongs in the Zelda-verse. Also, the wings on Navi could do with some sharpening as they're not a consistent drawing style with the rest of the image.

Impact:

A pleasing reflective piece on the hero's journey and a thoughtful insight in to what happens when you shut down the console.

What? Fan art of Link paying attention to the fairy without killing it/giving it the death glare/being annoyed?!

This is the first time I've seen Link so...real. I mean, he does a ton of world saving, but he never looks tired or dirty. And this is just so well presented :) I adore it~

He has holes in his socks....

*dies*

I love this, the lighting from the fire is beautiful and I can totally see this happening at some point. Link settling down for a night after a dungeon and noticing he has worn through another pair of socks. I hope you draw more Legend of Zelda in the future!!

Not planning per se, but I definitely want to do more!
I've already done a Portal piece and a Half-Life 2 one though so I've kinda covered the games I love the most.

*Le Gasps*  Yes!  I love The Legend Of Zelda.  It's been my favorite video game ever since I was a little kid.  XD
Very nice drawing.  I love the shading (and the grass, it looks so cool) and Link's expression.  :)
