What's in a Name? - Doctor Who by Girl-on-the-Moon What's in a Name? - Doctor Who by Girl-on-the-Moon
Been meaning to do this shot for aaaaggeeeessssss.
Didn't have my usual traditional resources today, so this one is done COMPLETELY digitally. Not sure how much I like that. Anyway, just an experimental sketch to see if Painter can do what my pencils can. Enjoy!
(The shot is taken from Series 3 Episode 3, The Shakespeare Code.)

Let me tell you, I have been a Doctor Who fan since the ninth doctor. Even without facial features, I can tell this is David Tennant. It is usually quite difficult for artist, as I have seen, to be able to capture realistic images of models without using facial features, and I feel you captured this perfectly.

I do have a suggestion, that is generally stylistic - I would like to have seen more in the background. I feel like it is too bland for the Doctor. This is a very cliche idea, but maybe - in the black area - a image of stars, and the tardis would be a great addition, something to make the piece really pop!

A great piece, from a great artist!

The Tenth Doctor, and David Tennant in general, is so beautiful when he's unconscious, restrained, or vulnerable in any way. Just the rawness of those situations really gets me.

I don't think I necessarily would've guessed that it's completely digital if you hadn't said it was. Lovely use of highlight and shadow.

I like that it's all digital. Gives it a really nice feel. I'd say, imagining a pencil version, I like them equally.
Of course, that's hard to say, since the other version doesn't exist. You never know what kind of pencilly magical properties that would have. Anyway, I think it looks brilliant.:)

OO GURL.
This has a.. putty-feel to it, which I honestly adore. It works well for the pose - the dramatic contrast of shade reminds me of Graphite on paper when in a life-drawing class but by doing it digitally you've blended the styles of Earthy texture and fluid washes of Ink and Watercolour.. even hints of markers there. It's iconicity /you/ but it feels like the difference between clay and marble.. if that makes any sense.
It's a really great piece that you've experimented with different things and has come out as a fantastic outcome. SO. YAYTIMES.

I can see why you wanted go draw this shot - it's incredible! The way his hands are placed and the hair...
The lighting/shadows are great, it's simple but it works. Looks more like you used inks than pencil, but I think it's beautiful - sort of Quentin Blake-ish.
